Work Status : (Citizens, GC and EAD only)

Position: Sr Oracle DBA
Location: SF, CA (Locals Preferred)
Duration: 6-12 months


Minimum Qualifications

· 10+ years experience implementing large, high demand enterprise
systems with availability requirements approaching 99.99%

· 5+ years building and supporting Oracle in a production
environment.

· 3+ years with Direct Development Support.

· Must be able to design solutions and install, configure and debug
Oracle Server technologies and interact directly with development staff.

· Must be able to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks (at
any layer) on the server supporting the database. This includes identifying
SQL performance issues.

· Must understand and troubleshoot Oracle advanced features such as
intermedia, partitioning, and all permutations of replication.

· Must understand Oracle RDBMS configurations on a variety of
storage, including direct attached, NAS, and SAN (EMC).

· Must be current with new features of the RDBMS as in use with the
production client base; includes Oracle 8.1 through 9.2. Including RAC and
dataguard.

· Must be able to backup and recover an Oracle database in a variety
of configurations (disk or tape archives, rman or cold backups).

· Process and documentation deliverables - All DBA's should
constantly provide:

· Proactive support in a well defined methodology.

· Scheduled health checks of production databases in a well defined
methodology.

· Provide input and document best practices

Additional Qualifications

· SqlServer and MySql is a strong plus.

· DB2 is a strong plus.

· PL/SQL, java, Perl, and shell scripting experience is a plus.

· Should be proficient on Unix Linux / Solaris / HP-UX / AIX

· Experience supporting Web Services or J2EE application server (ATG
Dynamo, WebSphere, BEA WebLogic) in an Oracle environment preferred.

· Experience with VERITAS Database edition, Data warehousing and high
performance OLTP is preferred.

· Should be proficient using VERITAS Cluster Server and SUN Cluster
with Oracle HA extensions to administer an Oracle database in a clustered
environment.

· Familiarity with HPOV monitoring of databases, including being able
to install, configure, validate and maintain Oracle monitoring tools -
including custom scripts and OpenView SPI's is a plus

· As the individual will often be acting in a consulting role and as
a technical advisor, consulting experience is highly recommended.

· Ability to articulate multi-tier application architectures
including:

· Familiarity with infrastructure hardware such as layer-7
switches, load
balancers, and SSL accelerators.

· Use of the concepts of highly-available systems, clustering, and
hot-cold versus hot-hot failover.

· Understanding of capacity planning and vertical vs. horizontal
scalability.

· Identification of different architectural options and their
associated trade-offs.

· Ability articulate solutions to such diverse constituencies as
project managers, clients, business stakeholders and engineers.

· The ability to quickly understand and be able to articulate
business impacts of technical decisions and drive solutions to specific
business problems through the effective use of technology.

· Possesses comprehensive technical knowledge and organizational
skills to oversee, coordinate, and participate in highly complex projects
with high visibility and high impact on the business.

· Ability to prepare technical reports, client presentations, design
documentation, and manuals.
