The Oracle DBA is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of
the university's enterprise databases.

Job Qualifications (REQUIRED):

Must be Oracle Certified Database Administrator;

Experienced in all phases of Oracle database management in a Sun Solaris
platform environment, or other Unix or Linux environment

Must have significant experience with Oracle database administration tools
such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Toad, and SQL*Plus

Responsible for all aspects of systems administration including
implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance,
troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of
specialized system procedures. The Systems Hardware Analyst III also
performs basic systems security administration functions, monitors and
manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage; performs systems
backups and recovery procedures; writes or modifies basic scripts to resolve
performance problems; maintains system documentation and logs; performs or
assists in troubleshooting and diagnosing production problems; anti-virus,
user authentication; provide monitoring and primary response and
intervention for information technology related security incidents and
violations; keep current with new security and network monitoring
technologies, applicable laws and regulations. Works independently in a
professional, high-tech environment.

*PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*

1. Acts as a point of contact for all system related client outages and
issues. Provides assistance for systems related administration and provides
and maintains security programs/applications to protect confidential
management data and communications.

2. Provides technical assistance, designs and implements improved
methods and tools for troubleshooting and researching problems, and
maintains system performance as it relates to the client server environment.

3. Understands, evaluates and translates objectives into system
requirements; relates user requirements to existing technology, policies and
priorities, available technology and services, operating practices and
procedures, equipment and costs.

4. Determines approach for systems' implementation and ensure the
integration of all systems' components: procedures, policies, software,
hardware and database.

6. Reviews and evaluates system elements to ensure configuration
standards.

*QUALIFICATIONS:*

Position requires the knowledge normally acquired through completion of a
Bachelor's degree and five to seven years of previous work related
experience. Degree or major in Computer Science preferred.
